Curtsinger Elementary Certified as Parent Involvement School of Excellence by the National PTA

National PTA has certified CurtsingerElementary School as a Parent Involvement School of Excellence. PTA’s Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence certification recognizes schools that uphold the highest standards in parent involvement.  As part of the certification process Curtsinger put together a diverse team of parents, teachers and community members who undertook the task of creating and implementing a parent involvement policy based on the National PTA standards. They also invited all the families of the school to complete a survey and based on the results created a parent involvement plan.

The policy and plan were submitted with the application to the National PTA and the top award “Certification of Excellence” was given.  Receiving the certification is a symbol of parents, staff and community members working together to achieve the common goal of helping children succeed.  Betty Slomosky,  a second grade teacher with forty years of teaching experience said “PTA members and parents devote their time, efforts, energy and ingenuity to assure that Curtsinger is one of the most outstanding schools in Frisco ISD“, and from Rhonda Taylor, also a second grade teacher, “The participation of our PTA is just phenomenal!”

Some of the notable parent involvement activities at Curtsinger include… monthly newsletter in hard copy as well as on the new PTA website, Parents as Reading Partners, Parents on Duty safety patrol, and evening  PTA sponsored motivational and educational programs.

Curtsinger has very strong PTA involvement and it is reflective in the students desire to learn. For more information on the PTA and activities of Curtsinger Elementary visit www.curtsingerPTA.org
