President's Update

I can’t believe it’s the end of the year already.  The end of this year marks the end of my two year service as PTA president.  I want you all to know that I have thoroughly enjoyed this position over the last two years.  The primary reason for that is the incredible parents at this school that love their children and are willing to serve all the kids at Curtsinger.  Your board members are truly special people, and I’ve been so privileged to get to know and work with them.  Thank you PTA board members and thank you to all the PTA parents that volunteer all year to enrich all of our children’s elementary school experience.

At the end of the year, I like to look back and see what we have accomplished as a PTA.  I also like to remind us all what our fundraising money is going towards.  This list won’t be exhaustive but it will be close:

PTA Sponsored Activities:

  • 4 daytime programs for our children’s educational enrichment
  • 7 evening programs for families to enjoy together
  • Continued our brick sales to further our “Red Brick Road”
  • Printed 800 directories
  • 8 newsletters
  • Field Day bingo and popsicles
  • Red Ribbon Week activities
  • Kleenex party
  • 7 staff luncheons; 2 Apple of My Eyes
  • Reflections contest
  • Reading Ambassadors Week
  • School Raffle
  • Grandparent's Day
  • National Walk to School Day
  • 4 Welcoming parties for new students
  • Volunteer luncheon
  • Start up money for 6 new PTA's in Frisco
  • Provided a scholarship for a Curtsginer Centennial graduate
  • Contributed to our endowment fund for future funding of scholarships
  • Seminar training for PTA board members
  • 2 booths at the District wide Songfest for Choirs
  • Informational bulletin board/flyers
  • New PTA website
  • Teacher Appreciation Week - teacher goodies

Purchases:

  • $6,100 in suppies for our teachers
  • Half of the cost of our digital marquee coming this summer
  • Books for our library with Book Fair proceeds

We had record sucess again this year for most of our fundraisers:

  • AIM Fundraiser - Cookie Dough
  • Golf Tournament
  • Sock Hop/Auction
  • Book Fairs
  • Spirit Wear
  • Box Tops

Our golf tournament for this year reached a record raising approximately $15,000....  Incredible!  That means we have saved approximately $25,000 to put towards a new piece of playground equipment or other outdoor structure.

We would have accomplished none of these things without the support of PTA.  Thanks so much for your participation.

On a final note, I just want to say how blessed we are to have Tracey Hopkins as our new PTA president.  She has such a great energy about here and a clear love for our kids!  Thank you, Tracey, for being willing to serve.  I look so forward to working with you and our new board next year.

Have a fabulous rest of the school year and a restful summer and "We'll See You at the Top!"
