The Curtsinger PTA received Scholastic’s 2010 National President’s Award for our Fall Book Fair decorations.  We were one of eight schools nationwide to be honored for a successful Fall book fair.  We will receive $500 in Scholastic Dollars that can be used to purchase books and/or equipment for the library.

Congratulations Book Fair Wall Chairs!  Great job!

Book Fair Carnival--Your Ticket to Read!

Thank You Curtsinger families for making the Spring Book Fair a huge success!

With your purchases and donations we collected $18,145 in sales ($16,762 after taxes).  While down from our Spring 2010 and Fall 2010 fairs, we had a hugely successful fair and remain one of the largest fairs in North Texas.  Proceeds from our fairs go directly to our library.  This fair, the library will receive $4,190 in cash to be used for books and other equipment and $2690 in Scholastic Dollars that will be used on books and items from Scholastic.  We were able to place at least six books in each classroom.  Our library acquired 129 books including three sets of books being used in a “reading it forward” program--students will read the book, sign it, and pass it on to someone else.  Our librarian, Merrily McInnis, has created several great reading programs for our students to get them excited about reading.

Great job Curtsinger Families!  We appreciate your support and look forward to the Fall 2011 fair!

Also, a special Thank You to our Wall Chairs who design our fabulous decorations.  We appreciate your time and talents.

Check out our great Community Sponsors who helped get many, many books into the classrooms at Curtsinger!   Please support these businesses and let these families and companies know how much you appreciate their support of our school and our Book Fair.

And a special Thank You our more than 60 awesome volunteers who help decorate, move, reorganize and restock books, work the registers, come in early during with Donuts with Dads and stay late during Movie Night.  We wouldn’t have such a successful fair without your time and dedication!  Thank you!

Curtsinger Helps Local School

Through the success of our book fair, Curtsinger students were able to help local students at Bright Elementary by collecting $100 for Scholastic’s One for Books program.  The librarian will be able to select new books for their library.

In addition, Curtsinger donated $300 in Scholastic Dollars (dollars that must be spent with Scholastic that we earn through the success of our fair) to help purchase reading materials through their Rise and Read program.  The donation will supply 60 reading kits to Bright Elementary’s library so they can help entire families learn about the importance of reading in the home while teaching all members of the family to read.
