Dear Curtsinger PTA Parents,

 Dear Curtsinger PTA Parents,

It’s hard to believe that it is already time to start thinking about your PTA Board elections.  There is a process in place and I wanted to let you know how the elections work and how you can get involved.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for slating the Executive Officers including the President, Vice Presidents (2), Secretary and Treasurer.  The Nominating Committee consists of five (5) members and two (2) alternates.  Members can be current board members as well as non-board members, but must be a current PTA member.  You may nominate yourself or have someone nominate you.  You may also run from the floor during the January 18th meeting.  If you are interested in being on the Nominating Committee, please let me know and attend the meeting on January 18th.

This committee is to be elected by plurality with a paper ballot by the general membership during our general meeting on Tuesday, January 18th at 6:30 p.m.

Executive Board Officers

The Executive Board officers consist of the President, Vice Presidents (2), Secretary, Treasurer, parliamentarian, and historian.  Each of these positions is for one year, and if voted by the membership can serve no more than two years.  Any officer of the Executive Board must serve at least one (1) year on the PTA Board.

Once the Nominating Committee does their work, the Executive Board will be slated and voted on at our next General Meeting.  This meeting has not been scheduled.  The date will be distributed in our newsletter and/or an email to the membership.  It will also be posted at the school near the calendar.

PTA Board Chairs

Once the Executive Board is in place, they will begin the process of filling chair positions.  These positions can be found on our web site at www.curtsingerpta.org within our Standing Rules.  Chair positions are a one year commitment, with no chair holding the position more than two consecutive years.  Members of the Executive Board contact current PTA members asking if there is interest.  If you are not currently a PTA member and are interested, our by-laws state you must be a current member.  If you would like to join (according to our by-laws, you must be a member at least five (5) days before it is “official”), please let me know.  If you are interested in an area, please feel free to email me or let a member of the “new” Executive Board know (once elected).

Please contact me if you have any questions about the above information.  We welcome any involvement you would like to have with our PTA.  We are so fortunate to have a long history of one of the best PTAs in the district.  With your help, we will keep it that way.

Sincerely,

Dixie Beadles, Curtsinger PTA President, 2010-11
